Top Plugins For WordPress
If you are running a website or a blog on WordPress you have most likely been asking yourself what plugins to use and which are the top plugins for WordPress.
Too many plugins can be distracting. However some plugins are essential and one or the other is really useful and can extend the functionality of your blog.
A lot of great plugins can be found in the WordPress directory at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/or just go to your dashboard to the plugin section.

Following are some of the top plugins for WordPress that I have personally installed on my own website:
Askimet
Designed to prevent you from unwanted continuous spam comments
All in One SEO or Platinum SEO
This plugin makes your blog more search engine friendly and allows you to easily add TITLE tags, description tags and more to your home page and individual blog posts. If you have already installed All in One SEO you don’t need to change to Platinum SEO.
Broken Link Checker
A very useful plugin which finds any broken links on your site.
Google XML Sitemaps
This plugin will generate a special XML sitemap which will help search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo and Ask.com to better index your blog. This sitemap allows the crawlers to see the complete structure of your site and retrieve it more efficiently. The plugin supports all kinds of WordPress generated pages as well as custom URLs. Further it also notifies all major search engines every time you create a post about the new content.
WordPress Database Backup
This is a “must have” plugin. WP-DB-Backup allows you easily to backup your core WordPress database tables. You may also backup other tables in the same database.
Fast and Secure Contact Form
This plugin allows a webmaster to easily create and add contact forms to WordPress. The contact form will let the user send emails to a site’s admin. An administration panel is present, where the webmaster can create and preview unlimited forms.
SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam
Adds CAPTCHA anti-spam methods to WordPress on the forms for comments, registration, lost password, login, or all. For WP, WPMU, and BuddyPress.

There are a few more plugins I recommend to install, such as “exclude pages” or “dynamic to top”. However the above mentioned ones are those of the top WordPress plugins you should consider to install on your blog or website.
